What is Tenchu?
Tenchu is a popular stealth game series involving ninjas. It is popular for its sword-fighting, stealth gameplay, and the eerie settings of Feudal Japan. It is one of the first ninja games to incorporate stealth, a very crucial aspect of Ninjutsu that's often ignored in the media. It was a time of great turmoil.
  Bitter wars raged as those in power sought yet more power, but only chaos prevailed.
  There was but one beacon of hope shining amidst the madness- Matsuonshin Ghoda who ruled his people with, wisdom, compassion, and justice.
  Behind the great man were two ninjas who were sworn to serve and protect their master to the death. Rikimaru, a leader of the Azuma Shinobi-ryu ninja sect, and Ayame, a young kunoichi (female ninja), sully their hands with the blood of the wicked and unjust far from the public's eye.

Prologue

This game is a prequel of the storyline of Tenchu 1. It also brings the addition of a 3rd playable character, Tatsumaru, unlockable by completing Rikimaru & Ayame's missions.

Story/Prologue
  Many years ago, Rikimaru and Ayame were rescued as orphans by Master Azuma Shiunsai, the leader of Lord Gohda's Azuma ninja. Master Shiunsai gave his new apprentices the only upbringing he could offer: a life of lethal secrecy in a world of shadows; the life of a ninja.
  As they grew into young adults, Rikimaru and Ayame became essential members of the House of Gohda, even defending it from overthrow at the hands of a neighboring samurai lord. Each of the Azuma ninjas have served Lord Gohda with their lives and with their honor, delivering, midnight messages to neighboring states and punishment in the shadows to those who turned against him.
  Now the period of bitter wars and great turmoil in 16th century Japan has seemingly come to an end. The Azuma ninja clan recently conducted the traditional ceremonies to end their year of mourning for the tragic death of Rikimaru.
  Meanwhile, the land of Lord Gohda celebrated the passing of the fourth season of peace since the defeat of Lord Meioh. Only the Azuma ninjas know the truth about Lord Meioh's disappearance into a portal after he was defeated. It was a secret that even Lord Gohda did not know.

Small Analysis
This game continues the storyline of Tenchu 1. It also has a 3rd playable character, Tesshu, unlockable by completing Rikimaru & Ayame's missions.
 
The Xbox version additionally has Xbox Live™ support, allowing 2-player co-op deathmatchs.
It also included the following new features (compared to Wrath of Heaven; the creeps -_-¤):
 
2 Maps: Samurai Mansion, Deserted Pagoda Temple
 
2 Grandmaster Items:
Viper Drink - increases strength 3 times, but decreases your health
Flash Bomb - makes everyone within range dizzy
 
2 Special Moves:
Wall Camoflage - the character will lift up a sheet in front of him/her mimicing the environment
Ukemi - lets you dodge an attack and counterattack it.
 
New Functions:
Restart a mission with all of the items previously collected.
Continue the game whenever you die (pits, traps, fights, etc).
 
Improved AI: Guards will call for help and alert their comrades when the encounter something unusual. It is easier to be spotted.
 
New Cutscenes
 
New Characters: Mifuyu Tadokoro, Kanbe Tadokoro and Jonosuke Yuge.
Mifuyu and Jonosuke are also playable in multiplay deathmatch mode.
 

Tenchu: Kurenai(jp)/Fatal Shadows - Playstation 2

Story/Prologue
Lord Gohda orders Ayame to investigate the events outside his territory. All she finds are tombs and burned down villages. One night, she comes to the village Hagakure no Sato which has just been attacked and burned down by a group of assassins. The town elder whispers with his last breath the mysterious word "Kuroya". It is at that very moment, Rin, a 16 year old villager returns from her training. She mistakes Ayame for one of the attackers and swears revenge. As the plot unfolds, Ayame uncovers the identity of the real attackers and helps Rin to punish them.

Small Analysis
This game is considered by most, a side story, happening after Stealth Assassins but before the events of Wrath/Return.
In place of Rikimaru is Rin, and there is no unlockable character.
New to this game are 'Special Abilities' that are are unlocked based on the number of scrolls you acquire as you progress through the game.
There are also 4 unlockable costumes, Ayame's 3 costumes from the previous games, and 1 alternate for Rin.
